Body Contouring

Body Contouring can be accomplished surgically by several procedures, individually or by a combination of them. We present those cases here where two or more procedures were involved, and we believe they truly represent how we can apply our surgical artistry to improve a person's looks and self-image.

Tummy Tuck and Breast Enhancement

This patient had the desire to improve her overall body look. She was concerned about the bulge in her tummy and wished to enhance the appearance of her breasts. She wanted a more youthful, athletic look. The lines in the pre-operative photo are used by the surgeon to guide him while doing the procedure. Notice the dramatic difference in the woman's appearance afforded by her new flat tummy and full, firm breasts. This indeed is the look she wanted. This double procedure was done through a single incision in the lower abdomen, and kept the patient from having to worry about healing and scars in the breast area. The abdominal scar has healed quite well, and in time it will fade. In some cases the scar becomes a thin line that is barely perceptible. Notice also that the scar is well hidden when wearing a bikini.

Breast Enhancement

While many plastic surgeons refer to this procedure with the term "breast augmentation" we prefer to use the term enhancement because what we focus on is the total look of the person after the surgery. In general we believe in the subtlety of the result, and that a flashy or "operated" appearance is detrimental to the final outcome. The young woman to the left felt that she needed to do something about the size of her breasts to accommodate the rest of her figure. After a careful evaluation and consultation, the patient chose our services because of the natural look we provide. Note the delicately feminine shape, correct placement of the nipple, and proportionate size of her enhanced breasts. Notice also that scars are almost imperceptible.

Breast Reduction

Breast reduction is one of the procedures that carries maximal satisfaction for the patient seeking aesthetic or reconstructive plastic surgery. When performed appropriately and artistically not only does the patient benefit from a newly sculptured and pleasing shape, but she is also permanently freed from the pain and heaviness of oversized breasts. This type of surgery is covered by most insurance plans as medically necessary. This woman suffered back and neck pain constantly due to the strain from the weight of her oversized, heavy breasts. During our initial consultation, we discussed the procedure and the optimal size for her breasts after the surgery. She is now free from the burden of her oversized breasts, and enjoys life more. She also feels a great deal better about her new look. Note how the new size and shape of her breasts look very natural and appropriate for her body shape and general proportions.

Liposuction is a technique for removing fatty tissue by aspiration. Although the procedure sounds relatively simple in concept, special training and skills are required for a safe, successful procedure. Virtually any part of the body where there is accumulation of unwanted fat is a good candidate for liposuction. In this procedure the surgeon gradually removes unwanted tissue and in the process sculpts the patient's body to the desired shape. This is a delicate, artistic procedure because once the tissue is removed, it cannot be replaced. This patient had over the years accumulated a substantial amount of fat around her thighs. After battling for some time to remove the "chunks" by non surgical means, she came to us for help. We performed liposuction on her upper thighs with the result shown at left. Notice the new pleasing shape and firmness of her thighs and abdomen.

Tummy Tuck - Abdominoplasty

Abdominoplasty reconstitutes the tone of the abdominal wall muscles, redefines them, and removes the excess skin and fat from the lower abdomen. "Out pouching" of the lower abdomen and occasionally of the upper abdomen is caused by laxity of the abdominal wall musculature or by the localized accumulation of fat with protrusion and relaxation of the skin. This is a condition that is frequently seen in both men and women of middle age. Abdominoplasty has the advantage over liposuction in that it re-tightens the skin by removing the excess skin. The patient shown here chose not to have the concave "wash-bowl" abdomen that entails a significant tightening of the musculature of the abdominal wall, opting rather for a softer, yet significant change from her pre-operative condition. Notice the improvement in the patient's posture in the post-op photo to the right resulting from the tightening of the abdominal muscles. The procedure also can create a waistline which has been lost due to age.
This is another impressive example of how a middle-aged overweight woman can regain her youthful feminine attractiveness. In this case the hour-glass figure was restored with an abdominoplasty which gave her a youthful, healthy flat stomach to replace a bulging, overhanging abdomen. Needless to say, she is extremely happy with her restored figure and attractiveness.
